VAM-19 is defined by a doubled reverse affecting the left wreath, the letters TED in UNITED, and the motto IN GOD WE TRUST. This breadth of reverse doubling across multiple design zones indicates substantial hub displacement during die manufacture. The 2014 revision consolidated related entries: VAM-59 and VAM-59A were delisted as duplicates, confirmed to be the same die pair as VAM-19 and its companion VAM-19B1 respectively. Such consolidations maintain catalog integrity as researchers match specimens using improved imaging. Philadelphia struck 21,726,000 Morgan Dollars in 1889, a robust production year generating numerous die pairs.
