Description
1889-O VAM-9 O Set High Discovered by Melvin Carmichael, August 1951. Revised 2009. Revised 2012. 9 (revised) III2 1 - C3f (O Set High) (181) Obverse III2 1 - Open 9. Some specimens show die chip between loops of both 8's on right side. Die 2 - Radial die crack between B & U in PLURIBUS. EDS of VAM-1A. Reverse C3f - III O mint mark set upright and high. Die 1 - Die marker - Diagonal polishing lines next to eagle's left leg. Pitting on eagle. Die 2 - EDS of VAM-1A with die cracks that match in legend. [[1889-O VAM-9 Die-2 Die #2 O Set High Revision 2012: Die 2 added shares Obv with VAM 1A1 with break at BU of PLURIBUS, but no clashing yet, and no clashed E. Since VAM 1A1 has been used for 40+ years, Leroy decided to make this share Obv VAM-9 Die 2.
