=1888-P VAM-9 High Date= Discovered by Oscar Simpson, April 1977. 9 III2 7 - C3a (High Date) (190) Obverse III2 7 - Date set higher than normal. DPIS - ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: Comments: # The date is at the left edge of the normal position, but is not near. Do not confuse with 1888-P VAM-2, which clearly has a near date. # Not mentioned in the description is the fact that the date is also slanted such that the 1 is farther from the rim than the last 8 is.
