=1883-P VAM-12 Doubled 18= Discovered by Martin Field, March 1979. 12 III2 12 ∙ C3a (Doubled 18) (188) Obverse III2 12 – Doubled 18 in date. 1 doubled on surface right side of vertical shaft. First 8 doubled on surface on left inside of lower loop. Reverse C3a – Normal die DPIS - ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: Comments: # The pitting is not noted in the description because it was pointed out in the introduction of the date in the VAM book. (Please don't send pitted obverse 1883 Morgans to Leroy (or one of the Johns...) as new discoveries.). # Notice the die break going thru the date and the die chip in the second 8. This can be helpful in differentiating between the 1883-P VAM-12 & 1883-P VAM-14.
