Discovered by Paul Williams in August 1966, the variety carries a III2 rarity rating, placing it in the scarce tier where locating examples requires targeted searching beyond common dealer inventories. The dash below the second 8 is the sole distinguishing feature: a small but definitive die characteristic created during the die finishing process, likely when an engraver's tool or polishing implement left a linear impression in the steel. George T. Morgan's design was struck at the San Francisco Mint in 90% silver at 26.73 grams on 38.1mm planchets.
