Description
1880-S VAM-33 Doubled Date Discovered by Francis Davis, April 1974. 33 III2 22 ∙ C3l (Doubled Date) (184) Obverse III2 22 – Entire date is doubled. 1 is doubled on left side of vertical shaft. First 8 is doubled on top surface at bottom of lower loop with a die chip between loops on right side. Second 8 is doubled at lower left outside of upper loop. 0 doubled slightly at lower left inside. Reverse C3l – Very large VI S mint mark tilted left and doubled with short diagonal spike on left inside of upper loop and a long diagonal line within lower loop. Emission Sequence Obverse: 1880-S VAM-70, 1880-S VAM-33 Reverse: Comments: This exact obverse die is shared with 1880-S VAM-33 & 1880-S VAM-70.
