Description
1880-S VAM-25 Doubled Date Discovered by Bill Fivaz, January 1974. 25(revised) III2 17 · C3a (Doubled Date) (187) Obverse III2 17 – Entire date doubled. 1 doubled at top left and above left side of lower cross bar. First 8 doubled at bottom right outside and top right inside of lower loop. Second 8 slightly doubled at lower left outside of upper loop. 0 doubled strongly on lower left side and is raised well above surface of original 0. 0 also doubled at very bottom left inside of opening similar to III2 13 obverse. Some specimens show die chip on right side of first 8. Acid treated die between lowest hair curl and initial M along edge of bust. Reverse C3a – Normal die with medium IV S mint mark.
