1880-O VAM-2 Medium O Discovered by Howard Newcomb, February 1913. 2 III2 1 - C3b (Medium O) (176) Reverse C3b- Normal die of C3 type with medium, tall, oval shaped, II O mint mark centered and upright. Emission Sequence Obverse: Reverse: Comments: The photographs below show the normal placement of the date and the medium, tall mintmark. [The photos are also a warning for those who shop on the internet: lighting makes it appear the date, the mintmark and other elements are doubled. They are not.]. At least FOUR different die pairing of 1880-O VAM-2 exist, all attributed by Leroy Van Allen. Below are 2 examples. (We hope to rectify this "bad form" as time permits).
