The 1876 Double Eagle Patterns page groups the double eagle patterns dated 1876 in the Metric & Stella Patterns (1874-1879) series, all struck at the Philadelphia Mint. J-1488 to J-1492 are transitional pieces with the obverse style adopted in 1877, paired with the 1876 TWENTY D. reverse (J-1488 and J-1489) or the TWENTY DOLLARS reverse used from 1877 (J-1490 to J-1492), in gold (one of each design) and copper. J-1493 is a copper striking from the regular dies, and J-1494 an unconfirmed aluminum listing.
