Description
The 1875 Proof Gold Dollar Pattern - J-1432 is a proof gold dollar pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Metric & Stella Patterns (1874-1879) series. It was struck from the regular 1875 gold dollar dies. USPatterns.com believes the 1875 off-metal pieces from regular dies were struck on purpose for sale to collectors in complete sets, cent through double eagle, in copper and aluminum. All three confirmed copper examples have been gilt, and NGC's census lists the number only as gilt; a non-gilt piece offered in 1973 may be a fourth. It is struck in copper with a reeded edge. USPatterns.com rates it R-7. It is also catalogued as Pollock-1575 and Adams-Woodin 1416. Cataloged as PCGS #61739.
