Description
The 1875 Proof Dollar Pattern - J-1424 is a proof commercial dollar pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Metric & Stella Patterns (1874-1879) series. It pairs the Liberty at the Seashore obverse with the reverse of the 1871 commercial dollar patterns, a fantasy that USPatterns.com believes was struck for sale to collectors; the design was repeated in 1876 as J-1472 and J-1473. Adams and Woodin say eight were struck in copper, which is about the number known today. It is struck in copper with a reeded edge. USPatterns.com rates it R-7. It is also catalogued as Pollock-1567 and Adams-Woodin 1421. Cataloged as PCGS #61731.
