Description
The 1875 Proof Eagle Pattern - J-1447 is a proof eagle pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Metric & Stella Patterns (1874-1879) series. It was struck from the regular 1875 eagle dies. USPatterns.com believes the 1875 off-metal pieces from regular dies were struck on purpose for sale to collectors in complete sets, cent through double eagle, in copper and aluminum. Two aluminum examples are believed to exist, one of them now gilt. NGC's census also lists gilt examples of this Judd number. It is struck in aluminum with a reeded edge. USPatterns.com rates it R-8. It is also catalogued as Pollock-1592 and Adams-Woodin 1402. Cataloged as PCGS #61756.
