Description
The 1875 Proof Eagle Pattern - J-1446 is a proof eagle pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Metric & Stella Patterns (1874-1879) series. It was struck from the regular 1875 eagle dies. USPatterns.com believes the 1875 off-metal pieces from regular dies were struck on purpose for sale to collectors in complete sets, cent through double eagle, in copper and aluminum. Four copper examples are confirmed, two of them gilt. NGC's census also lists gilt examples of this Judd number. It is struck in copper with a reeded edge. USPatterns.com rates it R-7. It is also catalogued as Pollock-1591 and Adams-Woodin 1401. Cataloged as PCGS #61755.
