Strike TypeCoin Details
Description
The 1875 Proof Dollar Pattern - J-1429 is a proof trade dollar pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Metric & Stella Patterns (1874-1879) series. It pairs the Liberty at the Seashore obverse with the regular trade dollar reverse of the first type, with a berry under the eagle's claw; the design was repeated in 1876 as J-1474 and J-1475. The single white metal example is ex Linderman and appears to have been struck for his own cabinet. It is struck in white metal with a reeded edge. USPatterns.com lists it as unique. It is also catalogued as Pollock-1572, Adams-Woodin 1427 and Taxay EP994. Cataloged as PCGS #61736.
