Description
Struck in the standard silver alloy, J-1154 presents a design variant that places particular emphasis on the reverse eagle composition. In the late stages of the 1871 dollar series, attention increasingly shifted from obverse design to reverse refinement, as the eagle side of the Trade Dollar would need to communicate American sovereignty and commercial reliability to foreign merchants who might never see the obverse.
