The 1871 Proof Dollar Pattern - J-1134 is a Judd listing for a proof dollar pattern of the Trade Dollar Era Patterns (1871-1873) series that USPatterns.com has not confirmed. Its obverse is James B. Longacre's Indian Princess design, cut into dies by William Barber, who succeeded Longacre after his death in 1869: Liberty, in an Indian headdress, sits facing left with her left hand on a globe bearing a LIBERTY scroll and her right holding a pole topped by a liberty cap, with flags behind her. This die has stars around the border and 13 stars in the flag, and the reverse is the Standard Silver reverse of 1870, with STANDARD above the denomination in a wreath of corn, cotton and wheat. USPatterns.com has not confirmed a silver piece with a plain edge; the old listings (Bluestone 1943, Farouk, Kagin 1969) may be J-1140. Judd lists it in silver with a plain edge. It is also catalogued as Pollock-1271 and Adams-Woodin 1111. Cataloged as PCGS #61394.
