Description
The aluminum version of the Commercial Eagle trade dollar concept, J-1128 pairs the innovative obverse design with the most experimental composition available. While aluminum was never a realistic candidate for the trade dollar that needed to match the Mexican eight reales in weight and precious-metal content, these exotic strikings served the practical purpose of producing additional die impressions for evaluation without consuming expensive silver or gold.
