1870 Indian Head Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-002

Description

1870 WDDR-002 is a doubled die reverse on the 1870 Indian Head cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The spread is Class V, pivoting from about 3:00. It appears on ONE CENT; on the wreath at the bottom, along its left side and at its upper right; on the shield's left side; and on the denticles between 6:00 and 12:00. On the obverse there are clash marks in the field right of the profile, and a clash between the lower feathers. On the reverse, a crack runs SW from the rim at 3:00 to the upper arrowhead; between 2:00 and 3:00 a vertical crack passes through the outer leaves on the right; and a crack crosses the upper right wreath from SSE to NNW. A. B. Moy submitted the variety. Snow numbers it S24 and CONECA DDR-015; Flynn has it as DDR-002, and the F.IND.ERS Report as FND-008.
