Description
This 1870 Indian Head cent shows multiple die clash transfers on the reverse. The forehead and nose of the Indian portrait are clashed under the C in CENT, and feathers from the headdress are visible inside the right wreath. The multiple clash impressions suggest this die pair clashed together on more than one occasion before the damage was noticed and the dies were either replaced or resurfaced. Multiple-clash specimens are more dramatic than single-clash examples and are sought after by die clash variety collectors.
