Description
The 1869 Proof Three Cent Pattern - J-677 is a proof three-cent pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Reconstruction Era Patterns (1866-1869) series. Its obverse is the coronet Liberty head and its reverse a Roman numeral III in a laurel wreath, as in the 1868 sets. USPatterns.com records two examples in copper (Pollock-756) on its Judd page, though its table lists the number as unique; a short-dentil copper striking (Pollock-754) is unconfirmed. It is struck in copper with a plain edge. It is also catalogued as Pollock-756 and Taxay EP553. Cataloged as PCGS #60902.
