The 1869 Half Eagle Patterns page groups the half eagle pieces dated 1869 in the Reconstruction Era Patterns (1866-1869) series: J-775 to J-777, struck at the Philadelphia Mint from the regular dies in copper, aluminum and nickel, and J-778, a brass muling believed struck outside the Mint. USPatterns.com reports that the Mint also struck complete sets from the regular dies of every denomination, cent through double eagle, in copper, aluminum and nickel for sale to collectors.
