About This Coin
The 1868 Three Dollar Patterns page groups the three-dollar pieces dated 1868 in the Reconstruction Era Patterns (1866-1869) series. J-655 is an aluminum striking from the regular dies, made at the Philadelphia Mint for the cased aluminum sets. J-C1868-1 and J-C1868-4 carry Joseph Merriam's Lincoln design, which USPatterns.com does not believe to be a Mint product.
