Description
The 1868 Proof Three Cent Pattern - J-619 is a proof three-cent pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Reconstruction Era Patterns (1866-1869) series. Its obverse is close to the regular nickel three-cent design set in more open fields, and its reverse shows a Roman numeral III, without the regular coin's ribbing, inside a laurel wreath. Fewer than half a dozen are confirmed in copper. It is struck in copper with a plain edge. USPatterns.com rates it R-7. It is also catalogued as Pollock-688, Adams-Woodin 693 and Taxay EP517. Cataloged as PCGS #60835.
