1865 Nickel Three Cent Piece - Atypical Die Clash ADC-3C-1865-03

Description

ADC-3c-1865-03 is an atypical die clash on an 1865 three-cent nickel, cataloged by Mad Die Clashes. The clash is strong on both the obverse and the reverse. MDC's overlay shows how the dies sat when they met. On the obverse, the reverse die left parts of the wreath together with the Roman numeral, including its middle section; portions of the wreath in front of Liberty's face; and the top of the numeral coming off the bottom of her jaw. On the reverse, the profile of Liberty's face left a clash mark. Billy Crawford took all of the photographs, and the coin is in Aisha Shahid's collection.
