Description

ADC-3c-1865-03 Even for a 3 cent piece, this is a particularly strong obverse and reverse die clash. All the photographs of this coin are the work of Billy Crawford and the coin is part of Aisha Shahid’s collection. The overlay shows the relative position of the dies when they did clash. The pictures above  show the various clash marks left by the reverse die on the obverse die. In the next down picture, part of the wreath and the Roman numeral can be seen. Again, more of the wreath and the mid part of the Roman numeral can be seen. Portions of the wreath can be seen in front of LIBERTY’s face. The top of the Roman numeral can be seen from the bottom of LIBERTY’s jaw. The picture above shows the clash mark left by the profile of LIBERTY’s face
