Description
The 1864 Proof Two Cent Pattern - J-372 is a proof two-cent piece struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Civil War Patterns (1860-1865) series. It is an off-metal striking of the regular 1864 two-cent dies with the large motto. USPatterns reports William Woods' view that the aluminum pieces are later pieces from dies made from a hub of about 1871. It is struck in aluminum with a plain edge; USPatterns rates it R-8. Catalogued as Judd-372, Pollock-442, A/W 454. Cataloged as PCGS #60542.
