Description

Judd-371a is a compositional variant of J-371, struck in an alternative alloy with proof finish. This off-metal version shares the identical die pair as J-371 but tests a different planchet material. The variant provides comparison data for this near-final design in a metal other than the adopted bronze, as a contingency evaluation in case the bronze composition proved unsatisfactory in production.

Rarity-7 to R-8. Scarcer than standard J-371. Estimated 3-5 specimens known.
