Description
The 1863 Proof Two Cent Pattern - J-316 is a proof two-cent piece struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Civil War Patterns (1860-1865) series. Although dated 1863, this two-cent piece with IN GOD WE TRUST and the regular reverse is, according to USPatterns, a backdated piece made around 1870 from a large-motto hub. It is struck in copper with a plain edge; USPatterns rates it R-6. Catalogued as Judd-316, Pollock-381, A/W 417, Taxay EP336. Cataloged as PCGS #60473.
