Description

This is a restrike of Judd-319, the 1863 three-cent pattern with a Liberty head adapted from the Coronet large cent. This three-cent design uses a Liberty head adapted from the Coronet large cent; George Eckfeldt's journal records three-cent pieces of copper and zinc struck about the middle of 1863, and USPatterns says the design was struck at several times on planchets of different thickness. It is struck in bronze with a plain edge; USPatterns rates it R-5. Catalogued as Judd-319, Pollock-384, A/W 396, Taxay EP339. Cataloged as PCGS #60476.
