Description
The 1783 Token 1/2P Georgivs Triumpho Half Penny is filed under Georgius Triumpho in the Washington Pieces (1783-1800) series. The Georgius Triumpho token of 1783 shows an undraped laureate head facing right with GEORGIVS TRIUMPHO, and on the reverse Liberty behind a frame of thirteen bars with fleurs-de-lis at the corners and VOCE POPOLI. The head resembles George III, but Baker and Crosby both read the piece as celebrating the success of Washington and placed it among the Washington pieces. It is catalogued as Baker-7. PCGS lists it as #664.
