About This Series
The famous Libertas Americana medal designed by Augustin Dupré at Benjamin Franklin's direction, commemorating American victories at Saratoga and Yorktown. The obverse features Liberty with flowing hair and a liberty cap, while the reverse shows the infant Hercules (America) defended by Minerva (France) against the British leopard. Original strikes in gold, silver, and bronze are major numismatic rarities.
