1960-D Atypical Die Clash ADC-1c-1960D(SD)-46

Description

ADC-1c-1960D(SD)-46 This 1960D small date Lincoln cent shows two clash events. The obverse clash marks are from the word STATES on the reverse die and the overlay shows the relative position of the dies when they did meet. The reverse die shows a clash mark made by the bottom of Lincoln’s bust through the word STATES. However, the clash mark is in the wrong position to have been made by the first event shown here. This clash die event can be recognized by the following die markers. Three die gouges are seen high on Lincoln’s forehead.
