1960 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Small Date - Atypical Die Clash ADC-1c-1960D(SD)-42

Description

ADC-1c-1960D(SD)-42 is an atypical die clash on a 1960-D Small Date Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by Mad Die Clashes. This tilted clash shows only on the obverse, where the NE of ONE left marks, and the reverse has no sign of abrasion to remove clash marks. MDC suggests the Mint may have taken the reverse die out to abrade it and put in a new reverse. Die markers: a short die scratch above the E of LIBERTY, a small die gouge on the reverse below AMERICA's R, and a collar break under LIBERTY. MDC gives an overlay of the die positions.
