1960 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Small Date - Atypical Die Clash ADC-1c-1960D(SD)-32

Description

ADC-1c-1960D(SD)-32 is an atypical die clash on a 1960-D Small Date Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by Mad Die Clashes. Three different clash events show, all on the reverse die. The bottom and lower back of Lincoln's bust left marks through STATES and the D of UNITED. In another event, the jacket's front line clashed above the right side of the Memorial roof. In the last, the line of the top of Lincoln's head marked the NE of ONE. MDC considers it quite possible that the obverse die had been swapped for another die that had already been abraded to remove other clashes. The die can be identified by the mint mark's position and heavy die scratches through the date.
