1960 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Small Date - Atypical Die Clash ADC-1c-1960D(SD)-17

Description

ADC-1c-1960D(SD)-17 is an atypical die clash found on a 1960-D Small Date Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by Mad Die Clashes as a strong tilted clash. Parts of the letters of STATES are easy to see, and the D of UNITED left a mark at the left tip of Lincoln's coat, with the left corner of the Memorial roof above it. The right side of the roof left a mark below the date. No clash marks appear on the reverse die, which was probably replaced with a new one. The die is easy to recognize by scratches across LIBERTY's B and E and heavy scratching through the date. MDC's clash-area notation is 2 3 4 / (obverse / reverse), with overlays. The coin is from Mike Diamond's personal collection.
