1960 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Small Date - Atypical Die Clash ADC-1c-1960D(SD)-10

Description

ADC-1c-1960D(SD)-10 is an atypical die clash on a 1960-D Small Date Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by Mad Die Clashes. It is a tilted clash in which the dies met at Lincoln's bust on the obverse and at STATES on the reverse. The clash is fairly strong and shows most of the letters of STATES; the mark left by the A's top in STATES is a clear guide to how the dies were positioned. To identify the die, look for the chipped-out 6 in the date and heavy diagonal die scratches in the field down and to the left of the bust. On the reverse, the O of ONE is chipped and the E has a die crack. MDC's clash-area notation is 3 / (obverse / reverse), and an overlay shows the die positions.
