Description
ADC-1c-1960D(SD)-08 This clashed die is similar to ADC-1c-1960D-02(SD). When the clash occurred, one of the dies was tilted and struck the obverse die below the word GOD. 1 4 / 5 The overlay shows the relative position of the dies when they clashed. The NE of ONE can be seen lashed above Lincoln’s head. A faint lines runs through the NE of ONE and continues over to the C of CENT. The overlay shows the position of the word ONE from the reverse die on the obverse die. While not as strong as ADC-1c-1960D-02(SD), there is still little doubt which parts of the opposing dies clashed. The clash mark generated by the Memorial building roof can be seen to the lower left of the 1 digit in the date. The black arrow points to a chipped out 6 digit. Another identifier for these clash events found on this coin is the large, bi-level die crack on Lincoln’s head The B in LIBERTY is starting to chip out and the N in CENT has developed a die chip on its diagonal bar.
