2025 (S) Dr. Vera Rubin Quarter - Doubled Die Reverse VDDR-001

Description

The VarietyVista doubled die reverse for the 2025 Dr. Vera Rubin quarter, the VDDR-001 represents a historically significant variety as it falls on a 2025 issue from the final year of the American Women Quarters program that ran from 2022 through 2025. Dr. Vera Rubin was the pioneering astronomer whose groundbreaking observations of galaxy rotation curves provided compelling evidence for the existence of dark matter. The doubling manifests as a medium spread on the ring under LL of DOLLAR, the upper left area of the A in DOLLAR, hair strands below the ear, and the hair where the glasses meet the head. VarietyVista tracking codes are UVC-???? and DMR-00?, with final designations pending assignment. Three die stages have been identified: Stage A with both reverse and obverse in Early Die State (EDS), Stage B at Mid Die State (MDS, unconfirmed), and Stage C at Late Die State (LDS, unconfirmed). As a variety from the closing year of the American Women Quarters series, this doubled die carries added numismatic significance.
