Zitkala-Sa (Red Bird), a Yankton Dakota Sioux writer, musician, and political activist, is depicted on the reverse in a design that features detailed braided hair and traditional clothing elements. The doubling affects these portrait details directly, with the secondary image of the braid and sash shifted slightly eastward from the primary design. Confirmed at Early-to-Mid Die State on the reverse, this variety is part of the growing census of doubled dies found on the American Women quarter series, which launched in 2022.
