The 2023 (S) Bessie Coleman Quarter is a quarter from the San Francisco Mint, belonging to the American Women Quarters (2022 - 2025) series. The San Francisco Mint struck 500,360 uncirculated Bessie Coleman quarters dated 2023. The obverse features George Washington facing right in a new dynamic portrait by Laura Gardin Fraser (modeled in 1931 and first used on a quarter in 2022) and the reverse displays unique designs honoring prominent American women who shaped the nation's history. First African American and first Native American woman to earn a pilot's license, received in France on June 15, 1921. The reverse depicts Coleman suiting up for a flight. Bessie Coleman, Edith Kanaka'ole, Eleanor Roosevelt, Jovita Idar, and Maria Tallchief honored. Coleman was the first African American and Native American woman to hold a pilot's license. Coined at the San Francisco Mint, which transitioned from Gold Rush-era production to its modern role producing proof and collector issues. Estimated market value ranges from $0.25 to $28 depending on grade and condition.
