Description

The 2023 (S) Eleanor Roosevelt Quarter, struck at the San Francisco Mint, is part of the American Women Quarters (2022 - 2025) collection. The San Francisco Mint struck 507,120 uncirculated Eleanor Roosevelt quarters dated 2023. The obverse features George Washington facing right in a new dynamic portrait by Laura Gardin Fraser (modeled in 1931 and first used on a quarter in 2022) and the reverse displays unique designs honoring prominent American women who shaped the nation's history. Longest-serving First Lady and champion of civil rights who chaired the committee that drafted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The reverse depicts Roosevelt alongside scales of justice against a globe backdrop. Bessie Coleman, Edith Kanaka'ole, Eleanor Roosevelt, Jovita Idar, and Maria Tallchief honored. Coleman was the first African American and Native American woman to hold a pilot's license. The San Francisco Mint, a Gold Rush-era institution, now specializes in proof and collector coinage. Estimated market value ranges from $0.25 to $4 depending on grade and condition. Struck in copper-nickel, weighing 5.67 grams, 24.26 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #919367.
