2023 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-003

Description

2023 WDDR-003 is a doubled die reverse on the 2023 Lincoln Shield cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Doubling shows above the ribbon, on the lower edges of shield stripes 7, 9 and 11. Obverse markers: a light diagonal scratch under the second 2 of the date; extremely light horizontal scratches through WE; a faded gouge (dot) below the U of TRUST; very light vertical scratches NE of the S and T in TRUST; and a very light scratch joining the B and E of LIBERTY. Reverse markers, in UNITED: a tiny gouge in the N's lower opening; a light horizontal scratch leading from the rim over the ED; and a very light vertical gouge along the D's NE edge. Elsewhere: a very light gouge left of STATES's E; a tiny gouge right of AMERICA's I; a gouge on the right edge of the second stripe of the shield; very light diagonal scratches through the IBUS of PLURIBUS; and very light diagonal scratches on the shield's central upper stripes.
