2023 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-001

Description

2023 WDDR-001 is a doubled die reverse on the 2023 Lincoln Shield cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler's entry gives no description of the doubling itself, only the die markers. On the obverse, a heavy gouge lies well SE of IN. Across the top of the eyebrow runs a horizontal crack that turns north, splits, and continues up the forehead's front toward the hairline, with two small chips inside it. A curving crack sits high in the hair, under WE. On the reverse, gouges lie under the ST of STATES, and a light crack crosses the shield's top above EPL. Another light crack starts on the O of ONE at its left side, then runs SE through the corner of the scroll. Jon Rhodes submitted the variety. Its Coppercoins number is 2023P-1DR-001.
