The 2023 (P) American Innovation Dollar - Ohio, Position A, struck at the Philadelphia Mint, is part of the American Innovation Dollars 2018 to Date collection. The U.S. Mint's figure of 496,275 covers every Philadelphia Ohio dollar, whatever the orientation of its edge lettering; how many have the Position A edge is not recorded. The obverse features a profile of the Statue of Liberty with a small stylized gear privy mark, and the reverses honor innovations and innovators from each state, the District of Columbia and the U.S. territories. This coin honors Ohio's central role in the Underground Railroad network that helped thousands of enslaved people escape to freedom before the Civil War. Struck in 88.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese and 2% nickel, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.49 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #916311.
