The 2023 (D) American Innovation Dollar - Indiana, Position A is a dollar from the Denver Mint, belonging to the American Innovation Dollars 2018 to Date series. The U.S. Mint reported 452,350 Indiana dollars from Denver across both edge orientations; the number struck with Position A lettering is unknown. The obverse features a profile of the Statue of Liberty with a small stylized gear privy mark, and the reverses honor innovations and innovators from each state, the District of Columbia and the U.S. territories. This coin honors Indiana's legacy of automotive innovation, from early manufacturing to the iconic Indianapolis 500. The reverse features vehicles spanning the evolution from early gas automobiles to modern Indy-style race cars. The Denver Mint, which grew from an 1860s gold rush assay office, has served as a major production facility since 1906.
