Description
The 2018 (P) American Innovation Dollar - First Patent, Position A is a dollar produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the American Innovation Dollars 2018 to Date series. The obverse features the Statue of Liberty with a geared background representing innovation and the reverse displays rotating designs honoring innovations and innovators from each state and territory. Introductory year featuring a single design depicting George Washington signing the first U.S. patent. This coin launched the program before the state-by-state rotation began in 2019. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $10 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 88.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese and 2% nickel, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.49 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #691651.
