The 2018 (P) American Innovation Dollar - First Patent, Position A was struck at the Philadelphia Mint as a dollar in the American Innovation Dollars 2018 to Date series. The obverse features a profile of the Statue of Liberty, and the series' reverses honor innovations and innovators from each state, the District of Columbia and the U.S. territories. Introductory year featuring a single design depicting George Washington signing the first U.S. patent. This coin launched the program before the state-by-state rotation began in 2019. Struck in 88.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese and 2% nickel, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.49 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #691651.
