2017 (P) Ozark National Scenic Riverways Quarter - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-035

Description

2017-P MO WDDR-035 is a doubled die reverse on the 2017-P Ozark National Scenic Riverways quarter (Missouri) in the America the Beautiful series, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling consists of two extra stones along the cellar window's left side, and there is also close doubling to the east in the branches over the right roof. Obverse markers: a large gouge inside the M of AMERICA, in its lower left opening; a gouge on the bust, to the right of the designer's initials JF; two gouges under the ear; gouges between the Q and U of QUARTER, left of its T and right of its E; a gouge near the bust above the D in DOLLAR, toward its left side; one between the U and S of TRUST; and one right of the first S in STATES. On the reverse: a die break in the branch opening under the ER of RIVERWAYS; a chip where the branches overlap, well below the S of RIVERWAYS; a chip inside the R of the designer's initials RG (upper opening); a crack in the branches beneath the S of RIVERWAYS; and a pre-die break depression on the left roof. George W. Powell, Jr. submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler notes it closely resembles WDDR-008, but here the extra stones sit a little higher and the branches show close doubling.
