2017 (P) Ozark National Scenic Riverways Quarter - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-027

Description

2017-P MO WDDR-027 is a doubled die reverse on the 2017-P Ozark National Scenic Riverways quarter (Missouri) in the America the Beautiful series, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling takes the form of one extra stone in the upper left corner of the cellar window. Obverse markers: light feeder finger scrapes on the neck over the Y in LIBERTY; a gouge between the Q and U of QUARTER; another inside the A of STATES, in its lower opening; one left of the I in LIBERTY; and several long gouges running through the OL of DOLLAR. On the reverse, a gouge sits left of the center window on the mill's right side, and a small gouge lies by the branch under the A in OZARK. George W. Powell, Jr. submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler notes it closely resembles WDDR-031 and suggests comparing the doubling and die markers of the two.
