Description

2017-P MO WDDR-026 is a doubled die reverse on the 2017-P Ozark National Scenic Riverways quarter (Missouri) in the America the Beautiful series, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling takes the form of two extra stones along the cellar window's top. Obverse Stage A has a gouge between QUARTER's E and R and a gouge near the hair curl under the ear. Obverse Stage B keeps those and adds a die chip on the bust's base over QUARTER's R; a gouge between the tops of LIBERTY's I and B; a gouge over QUARTER's last R; and a gouge between the bottoms of DOLLAR's L and A. Reverse Stage A has no significant markers. Reverse Stage B has a pre-die break depression between the branches under RIVERWAYS' ER; a crack following the curve of the branches under its S; a crack running E and curving N off the right tree's trunk, over the first branch; and a gouge that nearly touches the leaves over the right side of the house. George W. Powell, Jr. submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler notes that it is very close to WDDR-001 and suggests comparing the doubling and die markers; Wexler adds that WDDR-011, 034 and 036 are fairly close as well, but the doubling on those dies is clearly different.
