2017 (P) Ozark National Scenic Riverways Quarter - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-009

Description

2017-P MO WDDR-009 is a doubled die reverse on the 2017-P Ozark National Scenic Riverways quarter (Missouri) in the America the Beautiful series, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling takes the form of two extra stones on the cellar window's left side. Obverse Stage A has two gouges left of the chin and a gouge inside TRUST's U. On Obverse Stage B the pair of gouges by the chin may or may not show, the gouge in TRUST remains, and there are two gouges inside QUARTER's Q, a gouge right of QUARTER's T, and a gouge over the right side of TRUST's U. Reverse Stage A has a gouge between the background trees and the branches of the large right tree, and a gouge left of the mill roof. On Reverse Stage B the Stage A gouges may or may not show; there is a large die chip on the right tree's right side and a gouge between the branches under RIVERWAYS' A. Daniel Messano submitted Stage A, with additional photos from a coin sent in by George W. Powell, Jr.; Powell submitted Stage B. Wexler lists no cross-references.
