Description
WDDR-007 (Wexler reference: 2017-P 25c MO WDDR-007) is a doubled die reverse documented for the 2017-P Ozark National Scenic Riverways Quarter. The Ozark Riverways reverse depicts Alley Mill, a roller mill built in the 1890s at Alley Spring, framed by trees. Sculpted by Renata Gordon from Ronald D. Sanders' design, the reverse includes varied textures — stone masonry, water surface patterns, tree branches — that serve as productive diagnostic zones for detecting hub displacement. No additional cross-references beyond the Wexler system are known for WDDR-007. The Philadelphia Mint produced these quarters on copper-nickel clad planchets at the standard 5.67 grams and 24.26 mm diameter, releasing them into general circulation as the third design of the 2017 ATB quarter series. WDDR-007 is a distinct working die whose hub impression deviated from perfect alignment during the die manufacturing process at the engraving facility.
